More than 30 years ago Hello Kitty made her first appearance and has since become a popular character everywhere.

Snoopy

Besides being one of the most popular dogs around, this beagle is quite extroverted. While on top of his dog house, he daydreams of great adventures. He is truly a unique character, who never speaks but yet is able to convey every emotion through facial expressions and thought.

Rilakkuma

Rilakkuma is an adorable character produced by San-x Company. Rilakkuma's name actually came from the Japanese translation of relax bear, hence rila meaning relax, and kuma meaning bear. Rilakkuma's favorite food is rice crackers, rice balls, and dumplings. There is a zipper around the back of Rilakkuma, because he is actually wearing a bear suit! Though he is still a bear underneath. When you open his zippers, you can see his poka dot clothing underneath.

This cute bear is lazy, and loves to sleep and enjoy life just like his name. However, the mischievous little bear, Korilakkuma often interferes with Rilakkuma’s relaxing lifestyle; for example, Korilakkuma draws on Rilakkuma’s face or butt when he is soundly asleep, puts headphones around Rilakkuma’s ears, and maxes out the volume while he is asleep just to scare him for fun! Korilakkuma is an adorable white bear that is a little bit smaller than Rilakkuma; her hobbies include teasing Rilakkuma, dancing while listening to music, and sometimes trying on Rilakkuma’s bear suit when it is hanging out on the clothes line to dry.

Rilakkuma has another companion, Kiiroitori, the petit yellow bird. This yellow bird sometimes prevents Korilakkuma from teasing Rilakkuma too much. Having said that, Kiiroitori teases Rilakkuma himself sometimes too; for example, he rides his ducky car and runs poor Rilakkuma over when he is asleep.

Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, and Kiiroitori live under the same roof, and share a bed. Though Korilakkuma sometimes hugs his stuff hamster in bed along with Kiiroitori, so there would be no room for Rilakkuma to sleep!

Totoro

Totoro made his first appearance in the 1988 anime Tonari No Totoro, which is also known as My Neighbor Totoro. The story line is based on two little girls, Satsuki and the younger sister Mei who move with their dad to the countryside to be closer to the hospital their mother is in. Satsuki and Mei encounter the ancient guardian of the forest, Totoro, after moving in. It was said that only in the eyes of innocent children could Totoro be seen! Satsuki and Mei soon developed a close friendship with Totoro.

In the whole movie, there are 3 different Totoros; the biggest Totoro is called O Totoro, who is the ancient guardian of the forest. O Totoro is more than 3 meters tall, can fly in the sky, and chants to make seeds grow magically; Chu Totoro looks very identical to O Totoro, but is much smaller in size, and instead of gray fur, Chu Totoro is blue, and often carries a little white bag around his back full of acorns. Chibi Totoro is the smallest Totoro, and the most different looking one. Chibi Totoro is pure white and does not have a mouth that can be seen. These three Totoros are all spirits that protect the forest and help plant seeds grow.

Other characters include Cat Bus, Totoros' high-speed transportation. It is shaped like a cat, and can also only been seen by children. With its multiple caterpillar-like legs, it runs, flies, bounces, and hops across forests and lakes to reach its destination, making whole rice fields sway in its wake. Its eyes shine a yellow light brightly like headlamps to guide it. Mice with glowing eyes are suspended next to its destination sign on its forehead and from its rear tail lights.

Doraemon

Doraemon is an adorable blue robot cat, he was sent to present time with a time machine from the 22nd century. In the storyline, his mission was to help Nobita Nobi – his owner's great great grandfather. Doraemon carries a four-dimensional pocket with all kinds of tools from the future which can help Nobita Nobi with different problems. It is said in the story that Doraemon's ears got bitten off by a robot rat in the 22nd century, and this is why he is scared of rats. This special robotic cat loves dorayaki, which is a kind of Japanese treat that is sweet and filled with red bean paste. Doraemon is a lovable and caring robotic cat.

Monchhichi

Monchhichis are monkey-like creatures who live in the forest land of Monchia at the very top of tall trees well above the clouds.
